one-pot pasta on my facebook page today – moreon that at the end. let’s start with my one-pot veggie spaghetti! here are the ingredientsyou will need. in a large pot over high heat, saut㩠your onions in a little olive oil.once translucent, add in your zucchini, mushrooms, frozen peas, spaghetti noodles, thyme, salt, and water. mix to combine and bring to a boil. the beauty of one-pot dishes is you literallyput it all in one pot and let it go – no draining is necessary, no extra dishes, oneand done! cook uncovered for about 8-10 minutes until your pasta is cooked through and mostof the water has reduced. now it’s time

to stir in your parmesan and spinach, and mix well until your spinach has wilted.now there’s nothing left to do but serve and devour! yum! remember that for these pastadishes you can use any pasta type you prefer, so it could be whole-wheat, gluten-free, quinoa, corn whatever you like, and any shape will work, too. next, we’re going to make myone-pot taco quinoa! here are the ingredients you will need. add olive oil to a pot overmedium-high heat and add in your onions, garlic,

and bell peppers. saut㩠until your onionsbegin to turn translucent. then we’re going to add salsa, corn, black beans, uncooked quinoa, cumin, chili powder, salt and pep, and vegetable broth. mix to combine and bring to a boil.cover and reduce to a simmer until your quinoa is cooked through. this should take about20 minutes. once the water is completely absorbed it’s ready to go! serve and enjoy! i liketo top mine with a little avocado, cilantro, and some lime juice! if you don'tneed this to be vegan you could also add some shredded cheese on top or in the dish. soeasy! if you want more convenient and easy meals ideas, be sure to hit that subscribe button! go ahead, hit it!

i know you want to! lastly, we’re going to make my personal favorite: pizza pasta! thumbs up for pizza! once again, start by sautã©ing your onions and garlic in alittle olive oil like so. then, we’re going to add our tomato sauce, i chose diatlinipasta but you could use any shape, canned tomatoes, parsley, garlic powder, dried basil, dried oregano, salt and pep, and water. mix to combine and bring to a boil. cover, reduceto a simmer, and allow to cook for about 12-14 minutes, until the pasta is cooked through.now it’s time to sprinkle in our parmesan cheese, mini turkey pepperonis, and shredded mozzarella!

mix to combine. remove from the heat, butwhile it’s warm, i like to add some extra pepperoni and mozzarella to the top, cover, and let it melt for just a minute or two to really make it like a pizza pasta. now there’snothing left to do but serve and enjoy! i topped mine off with a bit of fresh parsley.this one actually tastes like pizza, it's crazy and such a fun weeknight dinner twist!let me know which of these is your favorite in the comments below! now i ask you to headover to my facebook page, facebook.com/mindovermunch to check out my spinach artichoke one-potpasta! so fun! all of these recipes are linked

Healthy Chicken Recipes

[music] i'm natalie hodson, and i'mhere in the bodybuilding.com kitchen today, showing you howto make one of my favorite side dish recipes and i callit death-by-garlic roasted asparagus. and it's a really good side dishto go with chicken or tilapia and it even worksgreat as leftovers. i put it in a ziploc bagand use it the next day. for today's recipe, this is apretty simple recipe though we

only use a few ingredientsand i have everything here. we are going to use freshasparagus and use about 1 pound of asparagus. they usually come inbundles like this. and some asparagus is a littlebit more thin and some asparagus is a little bit thicker andit doesn't really matter, you can use either. we're gonna use fresh garlic andsome garlic does come pre-minced but i prefer the fresh garlic.

i think it makes the recipetaste a little bit better so we're gonna just buythe garlic clove like this. and then we are going to usegarlic powder and just make sure that you get the garlic powderand not the garlic salt. they look real similar. they come in the same size ofcontainer but the garlic salt has quite a bit of salt added toit and the garlic powder is just straight garlic. and then we are going to useextra virgin olive oil and we're

just gonna use 1 tablespoonof this, so just a little bit. and then some pepper and i havefresh ground pepper but you could--if you don'thave the fresh ground, just regular blackpepper will work as well. and then we're gonna bakeeverything on a cookie sheet and line it with aluminum foiland i already went ahead and pre-heated my ovento 400 degrees. so the first thing we're gonnado is line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil.

and this just makes foreasier cleanup so that way, when you're done, all you haveto do is take your aluminum foil out, throw it in the trash andit's really easy to clean up. okay. so then we're justgonna set this aside. first, we just takeour bunch of asparagus, take off the rubber bandsand then just rinse this, make sure that gets nice andrinsed and then what i do is i like to keep the asparagus stillin the bunch formation and you

want to cut off the bottom aboutinch of the stalk and--because the bottom of the stalk isreally tough and it doesn't taste good, it'snot fun to chew. so what i do is i just take akitchen knife and i just cut it all at once so it'sreally fast and easy. and you just cut off the bottomof the asparagus and then what you're gonna do is evenlydistribute the asparagus over the cookie sheet. the next step ismincing the garlic.

so garlic, when itcomes in a clove, has an outer shell kind of likean onion and so what i usually do is just cut the end off justso it's easier to peel and then there's some stuff, i just throwthat away and then there's--if you can see inside, there's alot of little what are called garlic cloves, so you justtake out--this recipe calls for anywhere from four to six garliccloves and it just depends on how much garlic you like. i usually--i like a lot ofgarlic so i err on the side of

six but if you don't likegarlic as much or as strong, then you could just do four. and another thing too,if you don't like garlic, you could actually make thisrecipe even without the garlic and just use salt and pepperand it would still taste pretty good. all right. so i'm just gonna set this aside and we have sixgarlic cloves here.

now these still have kind ofan outer papery shell on them. and so you needto take that off. so what you do is you just putthe garlic clove flat on your cutting board, take a knife thathas kind of a wider flat edge and you just go like this andyou just hit it and what it does is it kind of crushes yourgarlic so it makes it really easy to pull but itactually, i found out, this one has twocloves inside of it so i'm gonna do that again.

and then it makes it reallyeasy just to peel off the outer shell. so i'm just gonnado this for all six. i really like--ieat asparagus a lot. i really like eating asparagusand one thing that a lot of people don't know is thatasparagus is actually really high in folate and a lot ofpregnant women are recommended to take folic acid which is thesupplemental form of folate and so asparagus is really goodfor pregnant women too.

and asparagus is also a naturaldiuretic so if you feel like you're holding on to some waterweight or if you're feeling kind of bloated, sometimes eatingsome asparagus can help your body rid itself ofsome of that water. so your hands are gonna feelkind of sticky when you're doing this. that's okay, that's normal. one, two, three, four, five. so since that original cloveactually was two cloves inside

of it, i'm gonna setone of them to the side. and then i just throwall the paper stuff away. sometimes it sticks toyour hand a little bit. i just rinse my fingers. so we're gonna mince the garlicreally finely and i'm just gonna do that with a knife. we already took the outershell off, the papery part, and i just put my hand on thetop and i kind of bunch it together and then i just mince it like this

and i just keep pressure on the top of the knife and i just kind of keep going back and forth and then what ido is bunch it back together and just keep mincing, just like this. and you just want it reallypretty finely minced because you don't want anybody to takea big old chunk of garlic. they might notappreciate you for that. so this is looking pretty good. i would say that's about asfinely minced as you want.

so i'm going to rinse my hands. and then i'm gonna setthis aside for a second. and then what we're gonnado is put the olive oil on. so i just use1 tablespoon of olive oil. now this recipe makes fourservings and so each serving is gonna have less than ateaspoon of olive oil. so i do--i like to measure itout because sometimes i have a tendency to use too much oliveoil so i just like to measure it out that way and know i'mjust using a tablespoon.

and i just slowlydrizzle it over. just like this. and then what i'll do is i'lltake either a spatula or even just the measuring spoon andi'll just sort of go like this just to make sure that the oliveoil doesn't get wasted on the bottom of the cookie sheetand that it gets over all the asparagus. so then what we're gonna dois we're gonna take the garlic powder so if you have thickerstalks you might not need quite

as much garlic powder, butif you have more stalks, you might need alittle bit more, if you have thinner stalks. so i just sprinkle--this is1 teaspoon and that didn't even cover half of it soi'm gonna do it again, 3 teaspoons equals 1 tablespoon. so just gonna keep sprinklingand it looks like i'm gonna use the whole tablespoon for thisrecipe 'cause remember this is called death-by-garlic asparagusso it's gonna be pretty heavy

on the garlic. and if you don'tlike garlic, again, you can use lighter garlic oreven no garlic and just use salt and pepper. and then i'm gonna use somefresh ground pepper and this, i just kind of eyeball it. you could probablyuse about a teaspoon, maybe 2 teaspoons and if youdon't have the fresh ground, just regular blackpepper will work.

and if you wanted toadd some salt, you can, but i usually justdon't add extra salt. and then what i'm going to do istake my knife and kind of scoop the garlic onto the knife andthen just evenly distribute this over the asparagus. so i just take my fingerand i just go like this. now if you were to eata raw garlic clove, your eyes would probably waterup and your mouth would probably start to burn because it'sreally spicy but when you

roast it like we're gonnado on 400 degrees, it kind of takes some of thespiciness out of the garlic and it makes it have moreof the garlic flavor that we're used to. so that's it. all i'm gonna do is rinse myhands and then stick this in the oven at 400 degreesand i'm gonna cook it for 15 to 20 minutes. so what i'm going to dois put this in the oven,

set the timer for 10 minutes. at 10 minutes, i'm gonna take aspatula and just kind of rotate the asparagus a little bit tomake sure that one side doesn't get burnt or crispy and then i'mgonna put it back in the oven anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes. and if it startsto look too brown, then i'll pull itout at 5 minutes. usually i cook it forthe full 20 minutes. so we just took theasparagus out of the oven.

at 10 minutes, we checked theasparagus, just rotate it, make sure it wasn't burning andthen at 15 minutes we checked it again and what i like to lookfor is to make sure that the garlic starts to kindof turn brown a little bit and actually at 15 minutes ourslooked good so you can cook it 15 and up to 20 minutes but wetook ours out at 15 minutes. and then what i do is i just usemy spatula and put the asparagus onto a plate. just like that.

and this asparagus is a littlebit thinner which is probably why we were able to takeit out at 15 minutes too. if your asparagus isa little bit thicker, you'll probably want to gocloser towards the 20-minute mark. and this looks really good. i'm gonna clean upthis super easy. all i do is fold upthe aluminum foil, throw it in the trash andthis looks really good

so i'm gonna try it. and you can serve this warmor you can serve it chilled as well. tastes really good. you can find this full recipeon the page below and for more recipes and nutritionaltips, keep checking out bodybuilding.com.

Healthful Dining At Your Desk

hello and welcome to dining debunkedepisode 1. so you guys seemed to really enjoy my healthy choices at fast foodrestaurants vlog that i did a while ago and i've gotten a lot of requests to do morestuff similar to that so i thought we would sort of make it into a serieswhere i take you with me out to eat at chain restaurants and we can go throughthe menu together go through the nutrition together and if you do enjoythis type of video don't forget to give it a thumbs up and comment below so that iknow that you want me to make more. so without further ado, first up is panera bread. one ofthe problems with panera is there are not a ton of choices that are actually healthychoices which is weird because it seems

like a healthy choice like it has a nice designand comfortable ambience and feels like the sort of upscale cafe. the good thingis that they do make their nutrition accessible so you can find this pdf withtheir nutrition online at their website and most chain restaurant do that now which is great. the biggest problem with making thisaccessible is that most people don't know how to read it properly, or theydon't know what they're looking for, or they are only looking for the thingsthat they've heard about before so they know, "oh i'm supposed to have somethinglower in calories" or "i hear carbs are bad" or "fat is bad" or these generalizations that aren'tnecessarily true. so when they see all

this is x amount of calories or fat or carbsthey don't really know what it means and having the nutrition therejust doesn't do anything for those people. so it is up to you to educateyourself to learn how to read those labels properly so that you can makehealthy choices without picking the thing that's you know the lowest incalories or fat because that's not always the best as we are going to seetoday. i personally try to think of food as fuel. so when i decide to eatsomething i try to think is this option going to fuel my body? is it going togive me you know nutrients that are gonna make me feel good and feel full? now thatdoesn't mean that every single meal that

i consume at all times as fuelsometimes i indulge sometimes i want to get the less healthy thing. the purposeof this is not for me to tell you to not get the less healthy thing. if youwant to do that's perfectly fine. i'm just trying to help show you if you want togo to panera and you're trying to stay on track to keep making healthy choiceswhat do you want to look for and what do you want to avoid. so yeah i just want to put thatlittle disclaimer out there for this episode in any of these dining debunkedepisodes that we may do in the future. i am not telling you to eat or not eat atthese places. i'm not telling you that any of the menu items are good or bad orthat they must be avoided or that

you must eat them. i want you to pickwhatever works for your lifestyle i am simply reading the nutrition to you andgoing through it with you i'm just making information more accessible. i'mnot adding any other opinions to that. finally let's get to the nutrition. i am goingto skip the bakery items and the breads because we can assume that pastriesare going to be higher in calories and fat and obviously not the healthiest choice andin this video i really want to focus on the things that people think are healthier. ido want to stop briefly at the fruit smoothies. so they really market theseto seem like a healthy choice but when you look at the nutrition everysingle one of them makes a health claim

and i've told you that before healthclaims are a red flag. so it says fat free you know green passion parissmoothie, low fat, low fat, superfruit power, low fat, low fat, all these claims theyreally want you to think that it's healthy. let's just look at the low-fat wildberry smoothie. the one smoothie is 340 calories, it does only have 1.5 grams of fatso it is low-fat, it's not a false claim but why do they need to claim that? well there are 75 grams of carbs in this smoothie 68 of which are sugar. now a lot ofpeople might think oh that's okay because it's natural it's from fruit butthat's not exactly true when you look at the ingredients which are not listed inthis pdf but you can find them on the

panera website. what's sweetening thesmoothies are concentrate. so i'm not going to go into what concentrate is icould talk about it all day long but pretty much it's very very concentratedfruit juice so there is a lot more sugar than you really need in it. if you guys areinterested in me doing a video on concentrated fruit juices and smoothiesand stuff like that leave a comment below so that i know buti'm not going to get into it today. so let's start with paninis and sandwiches. the best option macronutrient wise is the smoked turkeybreast sandwich on country. the whole sandwhich is only 430 calories, 3.5 grams of fat,

67 grams of carbs so still a little high on the cardsbut it's a pretty decent sized sandwich. the macros don't seem terrible but thisis actually not the sandwich that i would recommend people choose. now why isthat? reason number one, it is on country bread which is just white bread. so weobviously want to go for whole wheat options when we can because we want to gowith whole grains and get more fiber. i have done an entire video on how tochoose bread so if you're interested i will link that in the description boxbelow. not gonna talk about it today. reason number two, the micros so themicronutrients. most people, maybe not you, a lot of people might look at this andsee "oh if i get half of the sandwich it's

only 220 calories. well that's pretty low that's pretty good and it's only 2 grams of fat. butwhat they don't see is the sodium. so 890 milligrams in half of the sandwich. that means the entire sandwich is 1790. 1,790 milligrams of sodium in that sandwich. nowthis is where it becomes an issue where if people don't know how to read thisproperly that number doesn't mean anything to them. if they don't know howmuch sodium they're supposed to be consuming then they don't know if that's ahigh number or not. to give you some perspective the american heartassociation recommends that we consume

1,500 milligrams or less of sodium perday. that's debatable. i'm not saying they're right or wrong but it is recommended fora reason. so what to take from that is 1790 in the entire sandwich is moresodium than is recommended for an entire day. so my point is just because it is alower-calorie option doesn't mean it is the healthiest option. now healthy is arelative term so i really hate using it in this context because to somepeople you know the lowest calorie is gonna be the healthiest and to some thelowest sodium is goinna be the healthiest and some the highest protein is going to be the healthiest. so you know take it with a grain of salt but just understand that 220 calories doesn't make this healthy. let'smove on from the sandwiches. alright, salad. if

your salad still has 30 to 40grams of carbs in it, is it really any better than eating the sandwich? now alot of people would debate me on this. i'm not telling you to go eat thesandwich instead of the salad i'm saying take a closer look at what is in yoursalad. if you look at these salads listed here not only are the cards high butthe fat you know you've got 30 to 40 or more grams of fat in so manyof these and why is that? probably the dressing. let's take alook at one specifically. the mediterranean chicken and quinoa salad.sounds really healthy right? 38 grams of fat, 580 calories in the whole salad ok ican you know i can buy it i guess but if

you look at the dressing that comes withthat salad which is the greek herb vinaigrette it is 210 calories and 23 grams of fat just in the dressing. so if you've got 38 gramsof fat in the salad and 23 of those grams are from the dressing alonethat's a lot. now you could of course get the dressing on the side so that you'rein control of how much you're eating and that will you know lower the fat i'msure a bit but there might be other ingredients that you're not thinkingabout like nuts or avocado or seeds and even though those are healthy choices westill have to be aware of the overall amount of fat we're consuming. so what's theperspective on that? the us department of

health and human services recommends 20to 35 percent of your daily calories are from fat. again very debatable my goal today isnot to debate you on nutrition it is to simply provide you the facts. so if youare consuming 1,500 to 2,000 calories a day which is pretty average you knowmaybe a little higher than that, that would mean you're getting 30 to40 grams of fat a day. so suddenly this healthy choice of a salad becomesyour entire amount of fat for the day, 38 grams that's a lot. now if you areconcerned about how many grams or milligrams of these macro or micronutrients that you should be specifically consuming i do recommendthat you talk to your doctor. i am simply

referencing generalized recommendationamounts for educational purposes. i'm not giving specific advice for any person. onto the soups. another deceivinglyunhealthy choice at panera, many of these at least. right off the bat we know thebreadbowl is going to add a lot of calories and a lot of carbs to whatever soup youget. it looks like the breadbowl alone is almost 550 calories, a 120grams of carbs, and 900 milligrams of sodium. just the bowl. soonto the soups. here we go again with the health claims. low-fat chicken orzo soup.the bowl is only 180 calories, it's only 5 grams of fat, but there are 1340, 1,340milligrams of sodium.

or the low-fat all natural chickennoodle soup the bowl 130 calories, 1.5 grams of fatreally awesome macros right but 1,440 milligrams of sodium. that is high. and same with the broth bowl. the lentil quinoabowl with chicken sounds super healthy 1,370 milligrams of sodium. so again lower in calories not necessarily morenutritious. and shout out to my boy vegetarian creamy tomato soup you arereally tasty but there are 32 grams of fat and 33 grams of carbs in you. why? whyin a soup? you know it's vegetarian and it might be there might be some tomatoin it but this is still not exactly the

fuel i want for my body. a lot of peoplemight go in and think 'oh i'll get the you pick two and i will get a salad and the mac andcheese' because you know it's a smaller portion of the mac and cheese and havingthe salad to balance it out and if you've thought this way before don't worryyou're not alone. i used to do this myself and that is why you know i, i'vestarted learning how to read these on my own because it's easy to make thatmistake. you know a lot of people might even, even be moderately aware of whatthey're ordering. they know that that small cup of mac and cheese is 490 calories, 30grams of fat. but what they don't think about is that the salad even though it'sonly an extra 190 calories they're like

you know that only make it 680 calories.that's not so bad for my lunch 680 calories. but then what about the 47grams of fat? even if they're aware of that are they aware that you know 570 milligrams of sodium + 1,020 milligram, so you're at1,590 milligrams of sodium now from just this salad and mac and cheese. then youadd in that extra french baguette which is just kind of defaulted, they just putit on your plate even if we don't ask for it and you're adding an extra 180 calories,440 milligrams of sodium. so your entire meal now racksup a whopping 2,190 milligrams of sodium from just mac and cheese, salad, and apiece of bread. again if you've done this

before you're not alone i'm right therewith you i'm just saying this is why it is important that now we together startto learn how to read these. it's not science, it's just reading but it's knowinghow to read them properly. so now we have come to the point in the video weactually get to go in to eat some food. what shall i order? alright, so i used to order the powerbowls that panera had but i guess they discontinued those so i can't order those anymore. they havelike a power hummus bowl and it was pretty tasty and really good stats but it's gone. so i had tomake a new choice today. so a lot of you guys know i am not a huge salad person.when i go out to eat i pretty much want

to order all the other deliciousness andnot eat a salad right. but one thing that i've come to find in the past few monthsbecause i've been eating out more is i sometimes like getting a salad wheni'm out because they're preparing it. they're you know having to do all thecutting and the prepping and i don't do that at home and i don't want to spendtime doing it at home. so when i go out i get like all these great fruits andvegetables and i don't have to do the work. so sometimes i like ordering a salad and atpanera because you can do the you pick two i can get a salad and something else.so that's what i did today. i got the strawberry, poppyseed, and chicken saladand it is the half size and the macros

on that are pretty good. 170 calories, 7 grams of fat, 150 milligrams of sodium, 16 grams of carbs 3 of whichare fiber, and 15 grams of protein. so it's a decent choice and i also got asandwich with that. i got the tuna salad sandwich and it comes on honey wheat usually but i asked if they had whole wheat and they did so i got that instead. half of it is 260 calories, 8 grams of fat, 550 milligrams of sodium, 32 grams ofcarbs, and 14 grams of protein and instead of the french baguette or thebread on the side i just went for the apple.

the entire macros for this are 510 calories which is pretty good. it's a prettysolid lunch it's 15 grams of fat, 52 grams of carbs which is kind of high but iknow that a lot of those cards are coming from natural sugars from my applefrom the fruit in my salad and also it has 10 grams of fiber here which is great. i have 29 grams of protein and i have700 milligrams sodium. so what i like about this meal is i get my veggies in, iget to enjoy my veggies more because there's fruit on top of the veggies andi still get to enjoy a sandwich and a decent amount of protein in the entirething. i wish it could be gluten-free

bread but hey ya can't get everything. so mybiggest kind of concern with this meal is the sodium and it's not like out of controlhigh but it's definitely higher than if i made this entire meal at home on myown. as you will see you'll find that sodium will be a recurring issue withthis series i'm sure. anytime you go out to eat they're just inherently going to add a lot more salt. now it's important to note that ididn't choose this meal because it's the healthiest macronutrient wise. i chose itbecause it fits my lifestyle and my preferences. so the other thing is youdon't wanna go and order something just because it's the healthiest if you don'twant to eat right? like i tried to get something

that i actually want to eat. if iactually wanted to pick the healthiest thing on the menu it probably would havebeen the classic salad with chicken. which i just probably wouldn't haveenjoyed eating as much. just a bunch of vegetables and some chicken. so now i'mgetting to enjoy myself a little bit more and not feel bad and that isthe point. at the end of the day panera sort of makes me madbecause they don't have a ton of choices and i think that will be a problem witha lot of places especially because of the sodium. but that doesn't mean thata healthy choice can't be made. it just means we have to you know take theresponsibility to do our own research

and figure out what is available andwhat's actually on the label of the food that we eating. if you have a healthy goto at panera please comment below and let me know. and if you want me to do more ofthese let me know, if you have any ideas of places you want me to go. don't forgetto give this video a thumbs up because that really does help give me greatfeedback letting me know what you guys like and just before going i please, please, please ask you i can't ask you enough to be open-minded with this series. this isn'tme telling you what to do or that you're doing anything you know right or wrongi'm just trying to bring awareness to what's actually out there and

Healthful Cooking Choose Ingredients Wisely

two ingredient takeover hi there and welcome to mind over munch two ingredient takeover where i makedelicious recipes out of just two simple ingredients. today i'm making mytwo ingredient coconut macaroons. the two ingredients are: company shred coconut shreds and egg whites. start by pouring your egg whitesinto a large mixing bowl. i'm using unsweetened coconut shredsso i need to add a little bit of sweetener to mine

but if you choose to use sweetenedcoconut shreds then you won't need to add it. i just like to be in control of what the sweetener is and how much. thumbs up for beingsmart about your ingredients. then just add in your coconutshreds and mix to combine. spray down a large baking sheet linedwith parchment paper and use a tablespoon or a tablespoonsized scooper if you have one which i obviously did not to scoop out your little coconutmounds. you want them to be really compact and use up all that egg white

because that is going to be the glue thatholds them together. bake in an oven preheated to 350 degrees fahrenheit for about 10 to 15 minutes, untilnice and golden brown. but keep an eye on them because theywill burn quickly if you're not paying attention. allow to cool slightly before enjoyingor box them up for later. they'll last a few days and if they softenup you can always toss them back in the oven or toaster oven for a quick second. but they're delicious just the same. ifyou enjoyed this video i hope you'll share it with others.

if you try any of my recipes out be sure toinstagram or tweet me a pic. and remember its all matter of mind over munch.

Harvest a Summer Meal

Harvest a Summer Meal

[music] in today's video we will see how to grow onionsin whisky barrels so onions can be planted in winter for a harvestin late spring or summer depending on the weather in your area now i will not be going over the plantingdetails for onions as they are the same as garlic, which i just explained in my previousvideo there are many ways to grow onions you can either use onion seeds that you canbuy from any garden center and then you can sow these onion seeds andthen transplant them when they are ready into

bigger containers or you can use onion sets which are basicallysmall onions that you can start in containers to get biggeronions the onions that you see here have been startedfrom seed and then transplanted into this bigger container now onions use the same kind of soil thatgarlic uses nice and loose, with lots of compost but onions do grow bigger bulbs so they do need fertilizer as opposed to garlicwhich can grow pretty much with no fertilizers

added use a nice balanced fertilizer for your onions the general rule to determine whether youronions are ready for harvest is when the tops start falling off as you can see here so what you should do is once the tops startfalling off, just make sure you break the tops of all the other onions now what this does is it signals dormancy what it means is that now plants stop formingthe greens and continue to form the bulbs and go intodormancy

this is the general life cycle of an onion it first produces a lot of greens and then the plant concentrates its energyon producing the bulbs so it takes about 1-2 weeks for the dormancyto trigger in and for these 1-2 weeks, you just have towait patiently for the dormancy to set in and then get ready for harvest so when you are harvesting the onions all you need to do is just uproot them

and just lay them by the side and this first step let's them dry a littlebit before you actually start the drying and curingprocess and don't worry, some of the bulbs will besmaller than the others that's just the way onions grow and i'll tell you a neat tip that you canuse to something with your bulbs that are smaller and i'll give you that tip towards the endof the video so do not wash the onions after harvestingbecause you need them to be very dry before

you start curing them so leave them on a sunny spot or maybe a partiallysunny spot like a window sill or something like that and let them cure it takes about 2 weeks for them to dry completely so once the drying process has completed, you will notice that almost all the leaves have turned completelybrown and then what you need to do is just cut offthe extra roots and the tops and just do that for all the onions that youhave

so here we go, that's our harvest nice big onion bulbs that you can store forweeks to come and for the onion bulbs that did not grow, you can use them as sets for your next season so i hope you liked this video and planting onions in whisky barrels letsyou grow a few onions and if you want to grow more, you can justuse multiple whisky barrels or grow them in raised beds with the same techniques and if you have any tips for growing onions, please do leave your comments and feedback i would love to know from you what you havein your mind

what you do to grow great onions in your garden and i'll see you again soon in another episodeof california gardening until then...happy gardening!

Grill Up An Easy Elegant Meal This Summer

- hey, guys, i'm backthis week with another real time recipe for you. this one is going out to feline overload. you left me a commenta couple of weeks ago wanting to know a differentway to make gnocchi. sounds like you're in a bit ofa rut making it the same way week after week and i'm gonna show you a new way to try it. i really love this recipebecause it's quick, it's easy,

it's inexpensive and again itcomes together in 15 minutes or less, starting now. first thing we're gonna dois get our water boiling. now when you're boiling waterand you wanna save time, two tricks for ya. one, start with water that's already hot. i know that sounds like common sense, but you'd be surprised. if you start with waterthat's already hot,

it's gonna get boiling a lot quicker. then, we're gonna adda little bit of salt. that is a great way to get your pasta to be nicely flavored. the other tip for ya isto put a lid on your pot. that's gonna help thatwater boil up a lot quicker than if you don't have a lid. okay, so while that'sboiling, we're gonna get over here and prep our vegetables.

so, this dish has three ofmy most favorite vegetables. they are all the italian, heat loving vegetables. they all grow in thesame area of my garden. there is that expression whatgrows together, goes together. so, that's a good thing to remember. the other tip when sauteeing vegetables is you always want to start with the one that's gonna take the longest. for us here, we've gota red pepper, a zucchini

and some tomatoes. the one that's going to take the longest is the red pepper. i'm gonna show you how to cut a red pepper that's really easy. what you're gonna do firstis lob off each side. the seeds' going. then just clean out any ofthe seeds and shake 'em out. sometimes you find littlethings in the pepper.

yeah, you don't want that. (laughs) okay, and then, just cut the bottom off... and the top. you're gonna use all thesegood bits of the pepper, you don't wanna waste that. then, what you're leftwith is the core and top. easiest way to cut a pepper. okay. another trick when trying to cut things

and keep it quick isyou want to dice them. vegetables will just cookquicker if they're smaller. we're going to cut these intoa nice dice. just like that. cut them up. now this recipe will feedthree people comfortably because there are a lotof vegetables in it. the more vegetable you have, the more filler you have and the more that everybody feels full. also, gnocchi is extremely filling.

it's delicious but it can be a bit heavy, so it is good to cut it abit with some vegetables. there we go. then we're just gonagive that a quick dice. i also love this recipebecause it reminds me of when i had my first apartment. i had moved in with my sister. my sister and i are 13 months apart, so they call us irish twinsbecause we look a lot alike

and we act a lot alike. especially just 13 months apart. we had no money and we were always looking for something that was quick and filling and we would always gofor the gnocchi pesto. this recipe brings backa lot of memories for me. okay, so we're justgonna give that a dice. then, we wanna get thatgoing because we want the peppers to be cookingwhile we're prepping

the rest of the vegetables. you're gonna add alittle bit of olive oil. you're gonna get that going. and you're gonna add your peppers. don't you love our new camera angle? we now have the cook top,so you can see much better and that is all thanks toall of you guys that left me all the comments the last time saying you couldn't see in the pot.

i felt so bad, i wanted tomake sure you could see. now we are going to cut our zucchini. the zucchini is the secondfirmest vegetable that we have. that's why we want to cut that next because that also needs alittle more time to cook than the tomato. here is my favorite way to cut a zucchini. you're going to lob off the stem and a little bit of the end.

then, you're gonna cut it in half. then, cut that part in half. then, you wanna put the flat side down. it's always easier to cutsomething when it's stable. you just wanna stabilize it like that. then, we're going tocut little match sticks. then, that will allowus to cut a nice dice. this is what we wantbecause a nice dice is gonna cook a lot quicker than a big chop, okay?

so, off we go. you can hear our peppers sizzling away. all right. there, see, with this recipethere is a lot of multi-tasking going on, so you gotta keepyour eyes on your peppers. that's okay. at this point, you wantto check our water. see, once it starts to steam and bubble, that's good enough for the gnocchi.

the gnocchi, unlike otherpasta, cooks very, very quickly. that's way i love it especiallyfor a week night meal. it's not like a pastawhere you really want rapid, boiling water. just a nice, littlesimmer will do the trick. then, we're just goingto pour it in there. making sure i don't burn myself. so, we're gonna put the lid on and we're gonna let that cook.

the zucchini now are going to go in. beautiful vegetables. then, we're going to add a little pepper. and a little bit of salt. now while that's cooking,we're going to get on chopping the tomatoes. the thing with tomatoesthat you really need to know is you don't want to putthem in the refrigerator. tomatoes hate to be refrigerated.

it just really ruins their texture. when you go to the storeand you buy a tomato, the best thing to do isto keep it on your counter or your windowsill to ripen or if you get theselittle cherry tomatoes, i really recommend keepingthem in these little baskets, so you can kinda see. that way they're wellventilated, so you're not gonna get any moldy tomatoes.

they'll ripen as they sit out. they're just gonna be so much better than if you pop them in the fridge. just a little tip for ya. now if you're looking atall of this and you think, well that looks perfectlylovely, but i don't have time to cut all these vegetables. i totally get it and thereare nights where i don't have time to cut up vegetableseither, so what i will do

is i will make this recipewith just the tomatoes. it's really good evenwith just the tomatoes. they're quick, they're easy and sometimes i don't even cut them, i'lljust throw them in whole. if you're really pressed for time, you have my permission, you can do that. we're done with our tomatoes. we are going to throw those in the pot. now we have all of our vegetables.

looking beautiful, okay. okay, now it's time to add the pesto. i love homemade pesto,it is great, but really, store bought is perfectly fine. especially if you buy itin a jar, you can keep it in your pantry and it's always good to go. but i will say this, if you open it, you do have to refrigerate it. i usually will do two to three good

tablespoons of pesto. but i really love pesto. but you could just do one. the idea really is justto coat the vegetables. pesto, because there ischeese in it, will kind of burn if the flame is too hot. you want to keep it low. if you wanted to makethis vegan, you could by just using a pesto thatdoesn't have cheese in it.

the best way to do thatis to make your own. you could just take somefresh basil, whirl it up in a food processor withabout a clove of garlic and some pinenuts and then slowly add some olive oil. that will then create abeautiful pesto that has no cheese in it. if you're vegan and you don't eat cheese, you could still enjoy this dish.

okay, so that is that. then, the final step is justto add a clove of garlic. i'm a big fan of the garlic press. it makes mincing garlic somuch easier and quicker. see how quick that is? which is great for weeknightmeal when you don't have a lot of time for chopping. okay, now we are goingto check on our gnocchi which is perfectly done.

see how that timed out so well? by the time you cut up all your vegetables and they're done, the gnocchi is done. all the more reason tostart with the gnocchi and multi-task. that's the secret to aquick weeknight meal. another tip that i loveabout this is this is one of my favorite kitchen tools. it is a spider strainer.

you can get them at a kitchenstore for a few dollars. watch this, we're not evengoing to use a colander. you don't even have to. you're just gonna let the gnocchi drain and pop it into your pot. if some of that watertransfers to the sauce that is okay because that water is filled with lots of nice starchthat's going to just help your sauce become smooth and delicious.

we're gonna get all of that. beautiful. you just wanna coat that well to make sure that all of the pesto ismixing with all the gnocchi and all of your beautiful vegetables. okay, this is done. so, now, getting ready to plate. what we're going todo, we're going to take a shallow bowl. we're gonna spoon out someof this pesto gnocchi.

i like to make sure thati get enough veggies in each serving, right? final step is we're goingto add a little bit more of parmesan cheese. just because cheese is always good. a little bit more fresh black pepper. then, a little bit of sliced basil on top.

just because it's aweeknight meal doesn't mean it can't look pretty. we're also gonna garnish. (dinging) there you have it, another weeknight meal in under 15 minutes or less. i hope you guys will give this one a try and let me know what you think. i think you'll findthat this one will soon

become a part of your weekly rotation. i'll see you soon, bye.

Grandmas Fruitcake

hey guys,i am alejandra and i am carolineand today we are making peanut butter & jelly fruit cake..today we are gonna mix it up andit gets delicious with a little bit of peanut butter, it makes everything better! so weare gonna start of by adding some of these raisins & cranberries..they are dried fruit, just kind of soak them in brandy for about an hour.. so iv got some butter, all in there, and some sugar.. i am just going to cream that up..do you wanna crack these eggs..justwanna cream that until it gets nice and fluffy. now i am gonna add these eggs in and i amgonna do one at a time.. and now, very very important the crunch time peanut butter..that'scool you are using the crunchiness of it..usually fruit cake has nuts and fruits in it..so byusing the crunchy peanut butter i am actually

getting the texture..just a little bit of salt.. the reason i dint put any kind of baking sodain here is because it supposed to be a very dense cake, so you dont really want any airpockets in it.. it just going to be packed with delicious peanut buttery cake, nuts & areboozy raisins..if you don't do booze, you can totally replace it with little bit ofapple juice or orange juice.. just dump em right in.. and a little bit ofroasted salted nuts..a whole lot of them...get that all mixed in..and then put a little bitof delicious raspberry jam here..you can do any flavor you like, but something dark likegrape jelly or blueberry.. you don't wanna

mix it in to the batter, but kind of leaveit visible..you want to get little bit of parchment paper and line the pan so that itoverhangs, because after it bakes to sort of pull it out..fruit cake you know is kindof traditionally a holiday thing.. you gift it to people as a gift..so you guys can actuallymake this and give it as a gift if you want..you go right to the top..now this is gonna gointo the oven for an hour at about 350 degrees and then we will keep going with that..sogot the cakes out of the oven and let them cool..cake mummies..take them out of the parchment..i just have nice square of cheesecloth.. you can also use muslin.. and you kind of wannawrap it up like a burrito..you just wanna make sure it is completely wrapped..so weuse brandy and you can use rum or any sort

of spirit you like..just wanna do a abouta few tablespoons..so you just do that for all the cakes.. and put them in a cool dryplace..not refrigerate it..just kind of keep it there for at least 3 weeks.. so its kindof gonna age everything..the booze is gonna soak through the cake.. the booze and sugarpreserves it so you dont have to worry about the cake spoiling.. i actually made a fewof these in advance..so look how nice this looks.. you can see all the nuts and littlepockets of the cranberries and raisins.. its really good.. the peanut butter and jellything really comes through and it makes it feel extra special.. there you have it peanut butter & jelly fruit cake..does yourfamily have a fruit cake recipe that's extra special.. leave it in the comments sectionbelow. thanks for watching, we hope you love

[lauren] well, our whole relationship's a competiiton but [lauren] this could become a real series, [lauren] like we start with a box of pasta and we're like [lauren] okay, what are you gonna do with the pasta?

[john] pasta la vista. [john] do we have like- [john] cookie cutters? like rings? [john] do we have those? [lauren] i don't know, john. find them. [john] that sounds like something we have. that was a "yes we have it" [john] i'm gonna tear apart this kitchen. [lauren] i know, and that's going to annoy me. [john] tell me where they are/

[lauren] they're just down there, you bought them! [lauren] if you're gonna cook up pre made veggie burgers [lauren] from frozen you should add barbeque sauce while you cook them [lauren] because it just makes them look like meat [lauren] and also, it makes them taste better. [lauren] so you don't need the bun? [john] nope. [john] see? [lauren] whateverrr

[john] well, she's sweating right now. she's just like [lauren] i have like an amazing idea[john] "that's pretty good." [lauren] i kinda hate when you go to a burger place or a restaurant place [lauren] and you see like, [lauren] all these different burgers that are like, [lauren] okay, come on like it's just a burger [lauren] you don't need to make it crazy. [john] totally. [lauren] however, [john] however, [lauren] sometimes if the ingredients go well together

[lauren] i think it's nice to make a fancy burger. [lauren] so i feel like i'm making sort of a fancy pants burger. [lauren] so i'm gonna do garlic-y greens, [lauren] and mushrooms, [lauren] smoked gouda sauce, [lauren] smoked maple tahini, gouda sauce. [john] so it's gourmet versus ghetto. [lauren] yea, gourmet versus ghetto! [lauren] gourmet. *points to john* ghetto.

[lauren] you think it's pretty good i saw your face [lauren] when i said what i was doing he would have this like[john] it's not! [lauren] "oh, that's good" [lauren] hey, what you doing? you tryna hit me with the pan? [john] well then what are you making? [john] grilled cheese. [lauren] well how many patties' gonna be in there? [john] your mind is-[lauren] ohh, you're gonna do grilled cheese is on the outside of the pa- [john] that's pretty good!

[lauren] yea, that's pretty funny, okay. [john] grilled cheese buns! [lauren] why is it in a circle? [john] it's just aesthetically, to see a round burger [lauren] okay. [john] i mean, you don't have to cut the crust off, [john] i did. [john] have you seen this before? this done before? grilled cheese burger outside [lauren] well, no, i can't recall if i've seen it but i'm sure it's been done. [john] if you thought of it, it's been done[lauren] yea.

[john] so i have a question: how are you gonna make a gouda? [john] or how are you gonna make your cheese taste like gouda? [lauren] because we have smoked gouda from daiya here. [john] oh yea they did the- yea yea. [lauren] smoked gouda daiya cheese we had leftover. [lauren] maple tahini sauce that i had leftover from falafels that i made, [john] mhm. [lauren] it's like tahini and lemon juice, [lauren] maple syrup, [lauren] little bit of garlic,

[lauren] umm, apple cider vinegar . [lauren] it's really good. [lauren] i did a cup of cremini mushrooms, sautã©ed in a tablespoon of butter. [lauren] and then i'm just going to dump them into a bowl, [lauren] and put a plate over top to keep them warm, [lauren] and then i'm gonna do the chard in the same pan with the garlic. [lauren] it's so pretty, so you're gonna see like, [lauren] pink and green, like as the greens in my burger which i think is cool. [john] so you're gonna do it with your eyes.

[lauren] yea, i'm gonna take like one large leaf, probably just cook that down. [lauren] for one burger, that's enough. [john] that's smart, see because what she's doing, [john] is she knows that you guys can't taste this back home [john] so she's gonna make you guys eat with your eyes [john] and think that it looks [john] pretty or it tastes better than it actually is. [lauren] no, everything i make looks pretty and tastes amazing. [lauren] suck it, diemer.

[john] suck it, diemer. [lauren] *laughs* [john] that actually smells really good. [lauren] yea, i know. [john] okay. [lauren] to any dark leafy greens, you can braise them in garlic [lauren] and nutmeg and they're amazing. [lauren] that's what i'm doing to my chard. [john] i think a burger, like a classic hamburger

[john] was like one of the first things i learnt how to [john] cook when i was a kid. [lauren] really? [john] that and grilled cheese. [john] we used to make our burgers from scratch and [john] as a binder we would use french onion soup mix. [john] isn't that weird? [lauren] no, that's pretty common in canada [john] is it? it's common in ghetto?

[john] it's pretty weird, but it's normal for you. [john] i mean, it's fine. [john] i don't know what people are gonna prefer here [john] i'm actually[lauren] it could go either way? [john] it could go either way. [lauren] i don't know we could have like, the winner somehow gets an advantage [lauren] at the next competition. [john] you use pickle? [lauren] maybe, okay, you have to decide that the other person has to

[lauren] incorporate a certain ingredient into what they're doing. [lauren] yea, [lauren] yea, that's good. [john] i like that. [john] i'm okay with that and especially because i know i'm gonna win. [john] and you know i'm gonna win this.[lauren] you're just trash talking the whole time. [lauren] i've said nothing cos i know my burger stands for itself. [lauren] you're worried, so you're like [lauren] "i'm gonna win, i'm gonna win"

[lauren] so for my smoked gouda sauce, [lauren] i'm taking daiya smoked gouda, [lauren] so it's half a cup of that [lauren] in a pot, [lauren] and i'm gonna melt it, [lauren] with my maple tahini sauce which i'll link to that recipe below. [john] come on. [john] it looks good. [john] got a little bit scared but look at that.

[john] so i need sauces here. [john] for this epic burger. i think ketchup, grilled cheese [john] as ghetto as it is, this is the ghetto burger, so. [john] i'm gonna do something a little bit different, [john] i'll do a sriracha ketchup, [john] this thing is gonna be absurd. [john] sriracha ketchup. very complicated, [john] 2 parts ketchup [john] 1 part sriracha.

[john] tricky stuff, guys. don't forget it, okay? [john] i've worked on top chef and masterchef doing audio, [john] and the biggest mistake the chefs always make [john] is that their own cast are fooled (??) [lauren] is what? [john] exactly. [lauren] what? [lauren] don't taste it. [lauren] and you know what, i never taste anything and it always is awesome.

[john] famous last words. [lauren] oh, i don't know, here's my f--king cheese sauce [lauren] this cheese sauce, this is gonna kill you, this is the winning thing of the whole thing. [john] let me try it. [lauren] no! you can't try till it's done. [john] it's crunch time. [john] this is assembling. [lauren] this is just the final moment here. [lauren] make sure you've got what you like, [john] yea, get it on the plate,

[lauren] kay, so there they are. [lauren] i don't know, my one's pretty fancy compared to yours. [john] that is, that is gourmet cos no other-[lauren] mine is pretty amazing [john] uh, can you say something nice about mine? [john] i said something nice about yours[lauren] it's hilarious. [john] it's definitely hilarious [john] it's not what i was expecting like it's all [lauren] it's exactly what you expected, that's what you said. [john] it's unedibly large,

[john] like it's[lauren] it looks like a burger though, [lauren] just has grilled cheese on the outside, like it's pretty clever. [lauren] kay, let's do a taste test. [john] i'm pushing mine down [john] kay, here we go. [john] i can't even. [lauren] mine can win a burger competition that's not even a vegan burger competition [lauren] what?[john] i won. [lauren] no you didn't[john] it's so good. having a poll.

[lauren] based on looks, and creativity and idea [lauren] and your appeal, [lauren] make a comment down below [lauren] smoked gouda mushrooom chard burger [lauren] or grilled cheese burger. [john] mm. [john] bye. [lauren] bye. [lauren] burger time.

[lauren] mine is restaurant-worthy. [john] mine's after-the-nightclub-worthy [john] "you see my phone?" [john] "this is josh, he's gonna help me find my phone" [john] "mm, i love grilled cheese and burgers" [john] "when is the uber getting here?" [lauren] okay.

little bags of sprinkles. here i have bluecolored sugar. i also have this beautiful colorful confetti. yum! in the third bag i'llpour a bunch of pearl confetti. to decorate the bags cut a small piece of colored cardboardpaper, fold it in half and punch it on the bag with stapler. this makes the bags lookso festive and pretty. i think packing the cone and toppings into the diy packages addsso much to this gift box. fill the box with other ice cream related goodies like thisice cream scoop. you can fill the handle with sprinkles! when you make yourself an ice creamyou can quickly add some sprinkle yummines on top of it. so cool, right? i also got thesethree little jars, which i decided to fill in with some sugar covered chocolate candy, gummy worms and honey. you can use different

dressings like chocolate or caramel sauce.and of course besides candy you can use chocolate chips, crushed cookies or chopped nuts, driedfruits and chopped dark chocolate for a bit healthier options. just think about the favoritesnacks of the person the box is for. i'm adding two little notes in the box as well. on thefirst one i wrote ice cream sundae in a box and on the other, bon appetit and i addeda raffia hanger to both. to make sure the spoons won't scatter all around the box, let'stie them together and make a bow. we are finally ready to put all these goodies into the box!i think it looks extra cute if you add some tissue paper on the bottom – i scrunchedtwo pink pieces andâ popped them in. you can make so many different thematic sundae boxes.if you're making it for someone that eats

very healthy you can put in a bunch of differentyogurt toppings, like granola, crushed nuts, seeds and so on. the options are endless.i think an ice cream sundae box like this will put a big smile on the face of whoeveryou'll give it to. pimping up plain clothes is a great way tomake amazing gifts at affordable price. here, i transformed a plain sweater into the mostadorable cat sweater everyone would love. all you need to make it is a plain sweaterthat you can get for very cheap, scissors, pink and black felt, ribbon and fabric glue.start by outlining the animal you are going for. i decided to make a cat so i need a pairof pointy ears, eyes, nose, mouth and whiskers. cut all the shapes out. be creative and makeother animals of your choice, like a dog or

bear for example, you can have so much fundesigning the sweater. for the nose i am cutting a little pink heart from a light pink pieceof felt, just to make our kitty cat sweater even more cute. here's how it looks when weput all the pieces together. hmm... something is missing – a little pink bow, so let'squickly make one from a piece of ribbon. place the ribbon around the pointer and the middlefinger and lead the bottom end up and through the opening between the two fingers. tie bothribbon ends together in a knot. take the bow off your fingers, trim away the excess ribbonand you are done. these ribbons can be used for so many diy projects but today we areusing one as a fashionable accessory to our kitten. all we have to do now is glue thepieces onto the sweater. fabric glue is completely

washable and should last many years. i amso pleased with how this cat sweater turned out! making a present like this is so muchbetter than just buying a fancy expensive piece of clothing in a store. it really showsthat you took time and put effort into creating a present for someone you love. plus it'sway cheaper for you! this is such a fun and easy diy project that you can totally makefor yourself as well. a great christmas or birthday gift idea forany age is this beautiful picture frame. you need an inexpensive picture frame, acrylicpaint, paint brush, glue and some fake flowers. fancy picture frames can be quite expensive, while you can get such plain ones for a dollar or two and you can pimp them up yourself.i decided to color the frame in green and

then decorate it with artificial flowers.if you are giving it away for christmas you can switch the color to red and decorate itwith snowflakes for example. but i wanted to make a frame that you can have on yournight stand all year around. i applied two coats of paint to get it nice and opaque.wait for a few hours or until it is completely dry and we are ready to glue on some flowers.you can buy such fake flowers on the internet for super cheap. i still have a lot left frommy hair accessories and school supplies tutorials, remember? i put five flowers on two cornersof my frame, but you can stick them all around the frame if you prefer. in any case the pictureframe will turn out gorgeous! put in a picture of you and whoever you are giving this frameto – your friend, mom, grandma and i guarantee,

you will melt their heart. i mean... who wouldn'tbe absolutely blown away by receiving such a special and thoughtful gift. every timethey will look at this beautiful picture, they will remember how lucky they are to havesuch a special person in their life – you. every chocolate lover would be thrilled toreceive these home made chocolate bonbons. they are very quick and so much fun to make.you need some silicone molds, chocolate and toppings like sprinkles and mixed nuts. firstwe need to melt the chocolate. i’m doing that in the microwave so i have to break thechocolate into the microwaveable cups. i have some milk and some white chocolate. yum, yum!you can also melt your chocolate over the stove. once the chocolate is melted, pourit into the mold – i have this heart shaped

one, but you can find so many other cool designsin a store. flatten the chocolate with a spoon and then add toppings of your choice. i havesome shredded coconut, chopped hazelnuts and sprinkles for the first three. i want to makemore than that so here comes another row of chocolate yumminess. here i am also usingsome blue sugar and pines. let’s now make some white chocolate bonbons. wait what?!i figured that i overcooked mine, so white chocolate rest in peace. but we're not goingto stress about it for too long because i have some milk chocolate left. leave themto cool completely, you can also put them into the fridge for a while. time to takethese babies out of the molds! look at this perfection! omg i'm so proud of myself rightnow. totally tapping myself on the shoulder,

no shame. they look so professionally made, right? i'm gonna try this one. no girl these are not for you, these are for the gift, theylook so good i just wanna eat them. put them in a jar or a pretty gift box. decorate itwith some ribbon to make it more festive! you can personalize it for a friend that youare making them for. for example if that person is all about healthy living use 70% chocolateand top the bonbons with healthy stuff like nuts and goji berries. these are such a yummyand awesome gift. ear hats are a huge trend and you can actuallymake them yourself! i'm going to show you how. all you need is an inexpensive hat, twobuttons, thread and a needle plus some yarn. first we need to make two pompoms. wrap theyarn around the palm of your hand about hundred

times. trim the excess and take the yarn ballof your hand. take a short piece of yarn or thread and wrap it around the yarn ball tightly.you end up with this bow shape. with scissors cut through the loops on both sides. the bowshape is gone and we end up with a fluffy yarn ball. time to make our pompom nice androunded so just have fun with scissors and play with it until you are satisfied withhow it looks. there we go – this one is looking pretty posh! but since all the animalshave two ears, we have to make the second pom pom, which has to be of the same sizeas the first one. our two balls of fluffiness are ready and we can attach them to the hat.thread your needle and make a couple of stitches for each of the ears. if you want you canjust use fabric glue. since my pom poms are

quite big and heavy i figured that sewingwill probably work best for me. make a final knot inside the hat, snip away the excessthread and the first ear is done. do the same for the other one. just by adding ears, thishat looks so much prettier than before, right?! you can totally finish here or you can giveour bear a face like me. for the eyes i am using a couple of white buttons to match theears. sew them on a hat using black thread, which will represent the pupils. besides beingan awesome gift idea, this project is also great for up-cycling your old hats and refreshingyour winter wardrobe. i will definitely make another one for myself if i give this hataway because i just love it so much. for the nose and mouth i am using yarn and fabricglue. make a little oval shape for bear's

nose and a wave for the mouth. here we haveit, our mister bear hat all done and looking epic. this diy is really inexpensive, butso unique and special. the lucky person who receives a gift like that will surely feelspecial and appreciated. you know what guys i was thinking that noneof my friends have birthdays in the next days and i am feeling pretty hungry so i am justgoing to dig into the ice cream box. i have to give it a little quality control to makesure it's good enough as a gift, right? i am taking two scoops of raspberry sorbet whichis so good! a little whipped cream never hurt nobody, so let’s put it on top. time forthe toppings! i’m going for some honey first, because raspberry sorbet can be quite sourand we need to balance it out with sweet honey.

we also have to check out how the sprinklescoop works! mmm nice, i'm going to mark it as approved. all we need now is some dã©corand an ice cream spoon. how pretty is this snowflake! you can make decorations like theseyourself. cut some shapes of your choice from colored paper and stick them on a toothpick.after a quality control has been performed, i can totally approve this ice cream box asa perfect gift for any occasion! i love it! happy birthday! if you need some small and inexpensive presentsto give to your friends – these candy bonbons are perfect. to make them you'll need somecandy, ribbon, cellophane, tape, toilet paper roll, wrapping paper and scissors. start bywrapping the craft paper around the roll and

secure it with a piece of tape. fold the extrapaper on the sides inside the roll like this. pop the candy of your choice into the opening.take your cellophane and wrap it around the candy roll. secure it in place with tape.make two ribbon bows on the sides and you get a perfect bonbon shape. how cute are these!?make a bunch of different colors and give them to your best friends or you can use themas stocking fillers. easy, inexpensive and totally adorable little gifts, i am in love! anyone that loves beauty and likes to pamperherself would be happy to receive this moisturizing body scrub. you need a bowl, a jar, essentialoil, food coloring, sugar and coconut oil. pour quarter of a cup of melted coconut oilinto the bowl and add a cup of sugar. add

a few drops of essential oil, i am using peppermintand mix in a bit of blue food coloring. mix the ingredients together really well. if youneed to you can still add sugar or oil at this point to get the perfect consistency.pour the scrub into a jar. to make the gift prettier you can decorate it with stickers– write on a name and stick it on the lid. i also decided to wrap a piece of white raffiaaround and make a bow. what a gorgeous little present right?! especially in the winter whenour skin gets dry it is really important to exfoliate and moisturize. this scrub worksperfectly because it does both – removes dry skin and death cells plus moisturizes. now let's make some marble bowls which area great decorating and organizing piece for

any age. we're gonna need some clay, a bowl, dough roller and a gold fabric marker. roll the colors of your choice into strips likethis. i have white, green, violet and yellow. now you need to twist all the strips togetherand the more you twist, the more marbley your bowls are going to be. i want my design tobe quite full so i decided to roll my clay again and then twist it like that. just playwith it so that the clay colors mix together. when you feel like you have a good pattern, form the clay into a little marble ball. place it on the flat surface and use a roller orsomething rounded like a vase or a bottle to flatten it. just as you would be bakingcookies. place the clay on top of the bowl and let it dry. here i made another one. forthis one i swirled the clay even more so i

got an even more marbley rustic look. i decidedto put it inside the bowl and make the edge even more wavy, by folding it in. my clayis air drying so i just have to wait for a few hours for my bowls to dry and harden, but you can bake them and speed up the process. for the finishing touch color the edge ingold or any other color. you can use a marker or acrylic paint to do that. ta-da the marbledishes are all ready and a perfect gift for a friend, your mom, grandma or anyone thatlikes cute room decorating pieces. these are great for storing jewelry, or anything elselike keys, pins, you name it. what is better than drinking a morning coffeeor tea from a mug made by someone very special to you? diy mugs are a cute and super easyidea perfect for all ages. to make them you

need a white mug and some porcelain markers.this one would be perfect for a birthday gift. i started with a party garland and some balloons.first i like to outline the picture in black and then i'll add some color. plain mugs arevery inexpensive and the markers will last you forever, so you'll be able to make a lotof gifts using them. all you have to do is transform yourself into a creative mug designerand make some awesome drawings on the mugs. i am really not that good in drawing, so don'tjudge me. but that is the point of diy-ing! you don't have to be a picasso to make a giftlike that. i also decided to add a little quote – "smile it looks good on you". notjust smile, the person i'm gonna give this mug to will probably laugh every morning whendrinking coffee, thinking about how terrible

drawer i am. feel free to leave your mug inblack and white but you know me – i love color so i had to spice it up a bit. lookingawesome! now on to the other mug! i wanted this one to be more winter related so i'mwriting on "baby it's cold outside". i don't know about you guys but boy it's been gettingpretty cold here in norway lately, so this totally feels appropriate. on the bottom partof the mug i am drawing 3 penguins – poor babies freezing in the snow. start with anoval for the body, horizontal number three for the face and two lines for the white belly.using yellow marker make a beak and their feet. and since i am making fantasy penguinsi am coloring them in green, pink and blue. this diy doesn't take more than five minutesand you get such a nice gift! just perfect!

to make your mugs dish washer proof we haveto pop them in the oven for the marker to harden. follow the instructions for your markersas they can be a bit different. i have to bake my mugs at three hundred fahrenheit forninety minutes. voila, here they are all finished and looking awesome. i love how you can beso creative with these mugs. you can make so many awesome designs. drawings, patterns,quotes... sky is the limit. quality control is needed again so let's make some hot chocolate.little bit of milk, a teaspoon of cocoa powder and whipped cream to make it extra deliciousand festive. every time your friend will drink from the mug that you made, he or she willbe reminded how special he or she is to you. and that is a priceless feeling.

last but definitely not least i'll show youhow to make these epic gloves or hand warmers, which is probably my favorite gift idea ina bunch. and no worries if you don't know how to knit because i have no clue either, tweenzies! you will need some yarn, ice cream cup, glue gun, bobby pins, knitting hook anda needle. before we start knitting we need to make a simple knitting loom. start placingpairs of pins around the edge of the cup like that, leaving about half an inch between eachpair. if you don't have an ice cream cup you can use a bigger coffee cup or any other hollowrounded object. time to take our glue gun and let's apply some glue over and aroundeach pin to make sure they will stay in place while knitting. when all the pins are gluedin place we can proceed to the fun part – knitting!

take your yarn and this is optional – astraw. thread the yarn through it. straw makes it easier to wrap the yarn around each pin.leave about five inches of yarn hang loose and then start wrapping the yarn around eachpin. make sure that you have loops on the outside and the connecting line of yarn onthe inside of the loom. when you reach the first pin, just continue with one more rowabove the first one. see how quickly you can wrap the yarn around the pins using a straw?!the second wrapping row is finished so it's time to take the hook and pull the bottomloops over the top ones. grab the bottom loop – the one closer to the cup edge – pullit over the top loop and over the pin like that. if you don't have a hook you can easilymake one from a piece of wire or you can pull

with fingers too. go all around the loom untilour first row is finished. time to again wrap the around the pins – but from nowon we only need to wrap them once, because as you can see, we already have our firstrow of yarn from before. when all the pins are wrapped take a hook and pull the bottomloops over the top ones. these are the two steps that you need to keep repeating untilyour glove is long enough: wrap the yarn around the pins, pull the bottom loops over the topones. then again wrap the yarn around the pins and again pull the bottom loops overthe top ones, it's that simple! you can make the gloves using only one color of yarn, oryou can make stripes of different colors. i decided to make a green edge on these glovesso i need to switch the yarn. this is very

easy. snip the pink working yarn, leavingabout five inches extra like that. take the green yarn and thread on a straw. now simplymake a knot tying together the pink and green yarn like that. then continue the same twoeasy steps as before. this time using green yarn. wrap the yarn around each pin and thenpull the bottom loops over the top ones. and that's the whole story, it's really easy, you really have to try. i love this quick loom knitting technique because it is so simpleand it only takes about two hours to make a beautiful glove! especially this time ofthe year, when it gets dark so quickly i love cosying up on the couch wrapped in blankets, watch some tv and knit these gloves. i find it really relaxing and therapeutic. call megranny, it's like "granny's beauty corner".

after twenty two pink and five green rowsi believe this glove is long enough so i am going to pull the bottom loops over the topones for the last time and then we'll make a finishing crochet row. to make it you canuse a crochet hook like me, but the knitting hook from before or a piece of wire wouldwork just fine too. pull the first loop from the pin and onto the hook. take your workingyarn and wrap it around the hook like this. now you need to pull the first loop over thesecond one and off the hook. add the loop from the second pin ontoâ the hook and againwrap the working yarn around the hook. as you can see you have three loops on the hook.pull the middle one over the third loop and then the first one over the third loop. continuethis step until you take all the loops off

the pins. i feel like i'm saying "hook" hundredbillions times now, but i really want you guys to understand. let's repeat: take theloop of the pin, wrap the working yarn around the hook and you're left with 3 loops on thehook. pull over the middle one and the first one. then repeat the step. when you reachyour last pin, the glove will come off the loom. you are left with a little loop andthe working yarn which we have to trim leaving about five inches of extra. lead the yarnthrough the loop and make a couple of knots and stitches to make sure that the glove won'tfall apart. we want it to last many years. i am using a big knitting needle but you cantotally make one using a piece of wire. on the opposite end of the glove you still havethis first yarn end peaking out. make a few

knots and stitches to secure your work. idecided to make an extra knot where we switched the colors just to be sure. now we can snipaway all that extra yarn hanging out. push the knot from the yarn switch inside the gloveto hide it and we are all done, and ready to admire these adorable hand knitted gloves.you can make them for yourself or you can give them as the most beautiful and thoughtfulgift ever. switch up the colors and you can make these gloves for anyone – girlfriend, boyfriend, grandpa and i guarantee they will be overwhelmed. home made gifts are much more thoughtful, unique and special then the store bought ones. take some time this year and make gifts foryour friends and family and show them how
