Making Spanish Paella The Easy Way

hi this is alia and welcome back to cookingwithalia international edition and today, i have a very dear friend, very tall friend, marc! hello, hi everyone! ola, so we already guessed where marc is from. i'm from catalonia, spain oh nice, good food. ya, we have good food i'm originally near the mediterranean sea oh, seafood. yum!

and today, you're going to show us a special dish! yes, i'm going to show you how to make a seafood paella ohh! yum! you know this is my favorite dish? oh! really! i have 2 favorite dishes. it's moroccan couscous and paella i hope you like it. i love it. sometimes, people think that paella is very difficult to make. what do you think? well, we're going to do it an easy recipe. i think it's for all kinds of flavors

so, it's very simple homemade. we're going to use regular ingredients that you can find at home it's going to be easy for everyone to prepare it. we're making paella here in korea, so you can make paella wherever you are all over the world. yes, that's true. let's start! there are 2 parts when you want to cook seafood paella the first is to prepare the fish broth. fish broth is very important.

once we have our fish broth prepared. that was easy. now, we have some fish and rice we're going to use prawns and calamari. but if you don't have them at home you can use white fish you can use also chicken so, whatever meat you have, you can use them i'm excited about them. it's important to have all the ingredients in front of us, so that you don't get lost when you're preparing.

we have some chopped onion you're going to show us who to smash the tomatoes we have peeled the tomatoes. now we're going to cut the tomatoes into quarters then smash the pieces, like this. and then cut the smashed tomatoes into small pieces. in a15 inch paella pan or deep large skillet, heat some olive oil. place the prawns in the oil and cook for a few seconds on both sides remove from skillet as soon as they change color to pink. keep these prawns on the side for later. the next step is to cook the calamari and the cleaned shrimps

cook for 1-2 minutes just enough for them to start changing color to pinkish once the calamari and shrimp become pinky, push them to the sides of the pan and place the crushed tomato pieces in the center, the chopped onion, and garlic. let it cook in the middle for the pan for 1-2 minutes. add paprika to the skillet and mix all the ingredients together. add the uncooked rice to the fish mixture. mix well. add the fish broth. the brough should be enough to cover all the ingredients in the pot and go 1 inch higher above them. crush the pinch of saffron into the broth. add salt and turmeric. do not cover the pan, increase the heat to high, and cook until the water starts boiling.

we have cooked it at high heat for around 5 minutes. at this point the rice is half cooked. place the partially cooked shrimps on top of the rice. also add the mussels around the paella into the rice. at this point if you see that the rice is too dry, add a little bit of broth. cook it on medium heat until the rice is done. we have cooked this for 15-20 minutes. take some rice and taste it. it should be almost done. turn off the heat, cover the pot with a kitchen towel, and let the rice steam for 5-10 minutes before serving. wow! looks at this! it's perfect!

looks good. it looks homey ! it looks like what you would like to eat in the house not at the restaurant. so do you make this at home for your family? yes, all time we cook it at home and your friends come over to it. this is my lunch! you eat it before, so you won't eat it today! let's see this! bon appetit!
